Solitary retreat
Anyone who wants to be in silence with themselves for a while in a quiet Groningen village, to meditate, write, walk or simply do nothing, can do a solo retreat with us.
In the larger house there is a independent appartment that is set up for solitary retreats. It has its own shower, toilet, kitchenette, bedroom and lounge (see pictures). There is also a private entrance, so you are completely independent.
Generally someone will be present in the other part of the house, to answer possible questions and if you want contact, but in principle you will be left completely alone. And of course there will be no group retreats when someone is on a solitary retreat.
There are no shops in Usquert, just a snackbar/eatery. The closest shops are in Uithuizen, 5 minutes by train. But if you leave a list, someone will do your shoppings twice a week.
Costs: €300 per week, not including food and drinks.

“The beautiful practice room invites you to go deep into your practice. For me, that place is buzzing with inspiration and silence. The environment is also quiet, which further contributed to my retreat. The 3 temple cats meditated happily with me during several sessions, which did not only gave pleasure but was also an inspiration for compassion practice. In retreat you are thrown back on yourself. The only thing I reach for is food and the meals were healthy, organic and delicious!
The care and support by the 3 residents was such that I was given all the space to be there and felt very welcome. Furthermore, there is a lot to see in North Groningen, from the Wadden Sea to beautiful small villages. The vast landscape invites you to beautiful walks and bike rides. The train station is less than a 5 minute walk which makes the place easy to reach.
I can recommend the place to anyone who wants to do a retreat!”
